A sunset read as strata — sky, light, horizon, earth — and rebuilt in hundreds of hand-finished bands over a laser-cut panel. At a distance the bands fuse into atmosphere; up close they come apart into information. The eye moves between the two readings the way it moves through an actual evening sky, never holding the whole scene at once. From years of watching southwestern skies, where the light at dusk doesn't fade so much as sort itself into layers. Each band here is one reading of that evening — pinks over violets over the burnt orange of the horizon line, the dark ground holding it all up. Less a picture of a sunset than the structure of remembering one.
